Embark on a thrilling two-part adventure to Turkey Run State Park in Indiana! This exciting 3-day, 2-night trip offers a perfect blend of outdoor activities, including canoeing or kayaking, and hiking through the park's legendary trails.
Saturday: Canoeing or Kayaking on Sugar Creek
Kick off the weekend by paddling 15 miles down Sugar Creek, a serene and peaceful stream. You’ll pass under charming historic covered bridges and swinging bridges, offering a unique perspective of the park's lush surroundings.
Sunday: Hiking the Rugged Trails of Turkey Run State Park
Get ready for a more challenging experience as we explore the rugged trails of Turkey Run State Park. This 6-mile hike is not for the faint-hearted! The trail offers rugged terrain with boulders, slippery rocks, and cascading waterfalls, ensuring an adrenaline-packed experience. Be ready to navigate tricky spots and get your feet wet as you explore this stunning, wild landscape. Proper footwear, caution, and a sense of adventure are a must. Highlights include:
Boulder Canyon: Hop from boulder to boulder as you make your way through this dramatic landscape.
The Famous 140-Step Staircase: Descend into the heart of the park, where the steep stairs lead you into the famous Trail 3.
Trail 3's Ladders: Famous for its series of ladders, this trail offers an exhilarating way to navigate the canyon's vertical walls, providing a true test of both skill and bravery.
We will depart from Nahant Marsh Education Center on Friday, May 2nd at 2:00 pm and return home Sunday, May 4th around 6:00 pm. A pre-trip meeting will be held Monday April 21st from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. All meals will be provided. Price includes transportation, meals, camping fees, park entrance fees, and canoe/ kayak rental.
