Monarch Release Party

Event Description:

Join us at Nahant Marsh our 4th Annual Monarch Release Party!

We will be tagging and feeding monarchs for the Monarch Watch Citizen Science Program throughout the morning. At noon, we will release over 200 tagged Monarchs. 

Children’s activities will be going on throughout the day as well as scheduled hikes and storytelling. The Friends of Nahant Marsh will be hosting a goodwill bake sale. Local honey from Crandall Farms will also be available for purchase. 

10:15-10:45 — Nature Hike to Bird Blind 
10:45-11:15 — Storytelling with the Davenport Public Library
11:15-11:45 — Nature Hike to East Dock 

Adopt-a-caterpillar: Come to the Education Center on August 31 from 9am-3pm to pick up a monarch caterpillar to raise on your own. Adoptees will also receive a rearing container and instructions on how to raise the caterpillars.   

Monarch Truffles: Make a monarch truffle (also known as a seed ball) to take home. The truffles will include seeds for the monarch host plant, milkweed, as well as native nectar sources.
