Summer Camps

Important Camp Info

  • Camps are first come, first serve
  • Online payment is required in order to reserve your child's spot in camp. Camp fees are non-refundable.
  • Registration: Opens April 1
  • COVID Precautions: All programming will be conducted outside to encourage social distancing. Outdoors masks are encouraged but not required. Parents will be required to provide a signed COVID-19 Disclaimer on the first day of camp.
  • Inclement weather: The small class sizes will allow us to conduct the program indoors if need. Masks will be required in the building.*
  • Children will need to bring a sack lunch during day-long camps.
  • Pre-packaged snacks will be offered twice a day for day-long camps and once for half-day camps.
  • Each day children will need to pack a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, hat or sunglasses, and a change of clothes or swimsuit for water games.
  • Two weeks before the first day of camp, parents/guardians will be emailed a detailed letter with any pertinent info regarding the camp your child is registered for. The COVID-19 Disclaimer form will be included in this email.
  • A parent or guardian will need to accompany children to any Toadstool camp.

*Guidelines may change depending on the health department's and Eastern Iowa Community Colleges' recommendations. 

2021 Camps

Grades are based on the grade your child is entering in the 2021-2022 school year. 

Toadstool Camp (PreK-K): Hop on over to Nahant Marsh for a morning of nature exploring. Campers will meet live creatures and explore their wondrous world through hands-on activities. Children should be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. 9:00-11:00am. Limit 16 children. Cost: $20 per camp
June 8: Turtles

July 6: Shapes and Colors
July 20: Nature Detective
August 3: Butterflies

Critter Camp (1st-3rd): Connect your child with nature as they learn about insects, reptiles, and other critters. Children will be fully engaged with activities such as live animal encounters and outdoor exploration. 9:00am-3:00pm. Limit 16 children. Cost: $45 per camp

Jr. Naturalist Camp (3rd-6th): Dive deep into the world of plants and animals. Campers will engage in various research techniques that are used by wildlife biologists to study insects, birds, plants, fish, reptiles, and mammals. Limit 16 children. Cost: $135

Nature Adventure Camp (2nd-6th): Explore wetlands, woodlands, and prairies with the naturalists at Nahant Marsh. Campers will get hands-on experience learning about wildlife and practicing outdoor skills. This camp offers youth an opportunity to create memories and dig-in to nature. Limit 24 children. Cost: $225

Prairies and Fairies (2nd-6th): Discover enchanting wild things and wildflowers as we combine nature, art, and creativity. Campers will create a variety of nature art projects, learn about wildflowers, and collect beautiful, winged creatures. Limit 16 children. Cost: $135

Outdoor Survival Camp (3rd-6th): Getting back to the basics, campers will learn skills like fire building, shelter building, and navigation skills. They will also learn how to safely forage, harvest, and prepare wild foods. Limit 16 children. Cost: $135

Gettin’ Buggy with It (2nd-6th): Summer day camp focusing on butterflies, dragonflies, native bees, aquatic insects, and more. Through a variety of hands-on, interactive field activities this camp will teach kids how amazing insects are. Campers will gain skills in the field and lab setting and will learn about insect conservation and the vital relationship between humans and insects. Limit 16 children. Cost: $135
