Volunteer Opportunities

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”  — Dr. Seuss xstream 2012

Volunteers are vital to the ecological integrity of Nahant Marsh and help is always needed! Volunteer duties include anything from trash cleanup,  to helping with special events, to cooking for visiting AmeriCorps crews or helping with education programs.

We are currently looking for volunteers willing to be Docents!

Docents are needed for Saturday mornings from 9:00 until noon and on occasional weekdays when we have events.  As a docent you will be in the building to welcome visitors & have them sign the guest book, observe and respond to visitors, know the Nahant mission, history, and general information, be available to sell Nahant merchandise, accept donations, and be familiar with membership information, adopt an animal program, Friends group, trails, and upcoming events! If you are interested in doing this we will train you on everything you need to know, there will be an upcoming docent training day coming soon!

We also like to have volunteers trained to do education programs in case we are short staffed, this is great for retired teachers or nature enthusiasts with some previous experience.  We will train you on our main education programs.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please fill out a Volunteer Application.
