Friends of Nahant Marsh
If you enjoy Nahant Marsh, you may wish to consider joining the Friends of Nahant Marsh (FNM), a non-profit organization filled with dedicated individuals who donate time and energy to raise money, help at community events, and restore the marsh. The Friends of Nahant also staff the education center every Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m.–Noon.
If you would like to donate your time and energy, we will gladly welcome you! There is always the need for help in projects that FNM participate in to maintain the marsh, and to teach others about its unique environment. To become a Friends member, call us at 563.323.5196 or stop by Saturday morning betweeen 9 a.m.–Noon and meet the Friends.
Make Friends with the Marsh: Volunteer Service Days
The Friends of Nahant Marsh will be hosting “Make Friends with the Marsh,” a volunteer service day, typically on the first Saturday of the month. We encourage you to check our Events Calendar for more details or date changes. Some projects include planting native species, seed harvesting, invasive species removal, cleanups, and forest surveying.
The events are open to families, scout groups, youth organizations, and anyone interested in nature! Most projects will include moderate to hard physical labor and it’s recommended that participants wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Nahant Marsh will offer gloves, but you may also bring your own. Please feel free to show up and give us a hand!

The Mission of Nahant Marsh Education Center is to preserve and enhance the ecological integrity of the marsh and to foster wonder, appreciation, interaction, and stewardship of the natural world through education.
