The Nahant Marsh Education Center is excited to announce its new Ecology and Conservation Exploring Post!
The Exploring program is Learning for Life’s career education program for young men and women who are at least 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 years of age but not yet 21 years old.
Exploring’s purpose is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. As a post for Exploring, Nahant Marsh can offer a unique opportunity for youth to investigate a career in Conservation.
Ecology and Conservation Exploring Post
The intent of the Ecology and Conservation Exploring Post at Nahant is to educate and involve youth in conservation, natural resource management, and environmental education. Through hands-on involvement, Post establishes an awareness of the diverse field of conservation. Environmental Educators and professionals in the field will cover topics including Iowa’s physical environment, sustainable agriculture, energy uses, and research techniques. The Ecology and Conservation Exploring Post uses field experiences and classroom training to cover a broad range conservation issues and topics. These experiences help future conservationists make informed, intelligent choices for a lifestyle of stewardship while also exposing them to potential careers in conservation. Explorers will also have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in the community.
